3. Battery Sizing and Siting Methodology
Our battery system sizing for the East Campus is discussed in greater detail in deliverable 2.A. Conceptual System Design—Layout and Specifications along with a description of the battery use case for the Animal Science Complex. We decided to model two battery systems, one serving the Animal Science Complex and one serving the rest of the buildings on East Campus. According to our project mentor at 127 Energy, we assumed a round-trip efficiency of 88%, as shown in Section 3 Battery Sizing and Siting Methodology. Through system analysis, we found that each of our systems produce less electricity than their building’s electrical load, resulting in a net design that never exceeds voltage capacity.
